I received a fantastic question from Meena. I thought I would also post the answer here since I have tried so many products to fix this problem:
"
I am an Asian indian, Nc42 , but have dark (plum color)eyelids. When I put [MAC] soft ochre, or painterly or bare canvas [paintpots] they look more greyish white on me. Do you have the same problem. Do you put a concealor on your eyes, or something, to even out dark eyelids skin tone and make it look nude vs plum.
Look forward to your advice.
Thanks
Meena"

Hi Meena,
Yes, I totally suffer from this problem. Not only dark eyelids, but darkness underneath the eye as well. In this post I will talk about some killer products for NC40-42 skintone to solve the dark eyelid problem.
Treatment: I am trying out the
100% Pure Caffeine Eye Cream, Organic Coffee Bean 1 oz (30 g) to lighten the area around my eye. I will use it for 2-3 more weeks to let you know if it is working or not.
If your lids are puffy like mine are most mornings, apply
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller .5 fl oz (15 ml)Conceal:
Step 1. After moisturizing the area, I apply a thin layer of MAC Layin Low Paintpot, unfortunately it was limited edition. But keep an eye out, and definitely snag it if they re-release it. An alternative to this product is
Ben Nye Blue Neutralizer - No. 2Step 2. After applying a thin layer, you need to set it with powder immediately. The cheapest product is
Ben Nye Visage Poudre Luxury Powder in the shade Banana - it's a pale yellow powder.
Other two options are:
MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder 0.35 oz OR Too Faced Primed and Poreless powder
Step 3: The last step is to apply a matte eyeshadow that is very close to your skintone. I love
MAC Eye Shadow in BruleAfter all of the above steps my eyelids are nice and concealed and match the rest of my face. Hope this helps.
